Simple flapjack

flapjack

Everyone should have a flapjack recipe tucked up their sleeve.  These little beauties are quick and easy to make and are infinitely customisable with whatever you have available.  We ALWAYS have flapjack in the house incase of sudden hunger attacks.

Ingredients

125g butter

125g soft brown sugar

250g porridge oats (you can use gluten free ones if you are looking for your recipe to be gluten free)

2 large handfuls of whatever you fancy (some suggestions at the bottom of the page)

Method

Preheat over to 180 degrees.  Line your baking tin with greaseproof paper or just grease with some oil.

Melt butter and sugar together in a large saucepan.  Add the rest of the ingredients and stir thoroughly until combine.

Press firmly into your baking tray

Bake for 12-15 minutes

Cut your flapjack while warm but leave to cool in the tray.

Some of may favourite flapjack combinations:

Pecan and date

Chopped nuts (bit extravangant but pistachios are so good)

Sultana and walnut

Usually, my mix consists of lots of different bits of dried fruit and nuts to empty containers ready to be refilled 🙂 .
