Homemade mincemeat
I often feel mincemeat is the herald of Christmas time. It benefits from being made a good few weeks in advance of the event (the longer the better) but the homemade stuff is worth waiting for. As well as being much more delicious, when you make mincemeat yourself, you know exactly what has gone into it, can leave out anything you don’t want, and, even better, you can reuse a jar to keep waste down! Chocolate fruit & nut bars
Have you ever tried one of those Nakd bars? They are pretty tasty but unfortunately they come wrapped in plastic. So, thanks to one of our lovely customers, I am able to share with you a recipe for your very own fruit bar, and these truly are ‘naked’. Chocolate lentil brownies
This is a recipe which I have been lucky enough to eat (thanks Mum) although haven’t tried making yet myself. The brownies are deliciously soft and fluffy, so much so that I almost called this post “Squidgey little chocolate things” but that didn’t sound as nice.
How to make bread by hand
Making bread by hand is something which has, understandably, become less commonplace over time. It is a process which is ideal for someone who is in the house all day doing lots of different bits and pieces. Now, bread is such an easy, cheap staple that few of us even think about making it, and those that do often opt for a bread maker. But I have found the process of making bread wholly satisfying and the result is more delicious than any of the other alternatives. This recipe is simple, uses very few ingredients and is almost entirely free of plastic, wherever you buy your ingredients. Enjoy and let me know how you get on.
