Christmas in Crickhowell
Our pop up shop yesterday at the Christmas event in Crickhowell was our first foray as shop owners and we were a bit nervous. We shouldn’t have been! The shop was more popular than we had ever expected and the lovely people of Crickhowell gave us such an enthusiastic and positive reception we were overwhelmed. We spoke to so many supportive people, including the deputy leader of the Green Party and the local MP.
‘Biodegradable’ plastic, cure or curse?
I must admit to having been guilty in the past of complacency around my packaging. If the packaging was labelled ‘recyclable’ or ‘biodegradable’ that used to be enough to satisfy any concerns I had about its environmental impact. I was shocked and appalled to learn that when a product is labelled ‘biodegradable’ it does not necessarily mean it will break down. I wanted to explore the problem of ‘biodegradable’ plastic in this article.
Zero waste in Wales
Wales is a pretty amazing country and it doesn’t always shout about it. Although I’m not Welsh, my husband is and almost all of our immediate family live in Wales now. Since living here, I am regularly impressed and humbled by the incredible work being done. From individuals making a difference in their local communities, to politicians making ground breaking political changes, Wales has a lot to be proud of.

We thought it only fitting to begin our blog journey with the very reason we chose to open a zero waste shop…plastic. We have had a few people ask us why we have chosen to open this shop and I hope this article will help clear up exactly what the problem is that we are trying to address.
